LONDON (Reuters) – Investors were warned of the dangers of ploughing into the latest hot investment sector on Monday, after figures highlighted the volatility of emerging markets.
They have topped the list of best-performing markets each year in the last decade, according to DataStream figures, but also dominate the table of worst performers.
The research, undertaken by fund manager Fidelity International, found that the same emerging market country rarely topped the table in consecutive years.
Only Finland and New Zealand managed to notch up top performance for two years running (in 1998-9 and 2001-2).
