EU ministers seek deal on hedge funds and banking transparency

Monsters & Critics – European Union finance ministers were hoping to strike a deal on new hedge fund regulation and agreeing bank information sharing to fight tax evasion, at a meeting in Luxembourg Tuesday.

As part of its drive to place financial markets on a tighter leash, the EU has been planning to impose greater transparency on hedge funds, which some see as having contributed to the 2008 financial crash with risky investments.
