Opportunities abound for N.S. in hedge fund industry

Chronicle – The hedge and private equity funds that operate in Europe are estimated to be responsible for about half of all transactions in the European financial markets. If Nova Scotia could attract even a small portion of that business, it would significant for the local economy.

While it may not be affected by the new EU regulations, Admiral Insurance is an example of a successful company based in Britain that already has significant operations in Halifax. The four-hour time difference between Britain and Nova Scotia allows Admiral’s Halifax office to deal with calls from British clients interested in purchasing automobile insurance after their workday is finished.
