HedgeCo.Net — Bedrock Robotics, the San Francisco developer of autonomy systems for heavy construction equipment, has raised a $600 million Series C at a $4.1 billion post-money valuation. Alphabet’s growth fund CapitalG and Emergence Capital co-led the round, which brings the company’s total funding to nearly $1 billion.
New investors include the US Innovative Technology Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners and Temasek, joining existing backers 8VC, Georgian, Valor Equity Partners, Xora, Eclipse, Perry Creek Capital and NVIDIA. The mix of a sovereign investor, a corporate growth fund and a chipmaker reflects how widely the physical AI theme is now being underwritten.
The raise follows what Bedrock calls a defining milestone in mid-August, when its fully autonomous excavators began performing paid work on live commercial job sites. TechCrunch noted that the round comes about two months after the company moved beyond testing and pilots, a fast ascent for a business that is roughly two years old. Bedrock retrofits contractors’ existing heavy machines rather than building its own equipment.
The company said the money will increase the number of Bedrock-equipped machines on U.S. commercial construction sites and fund the field, commercial and operational infrastructure needed to make autonomy dependable in everyday work. Bedrock said it has doubled its base of customers looking to add job-site capacity with autonomous equipment.
For venture investors, the round is a large bet that robotics can move from demonstrations to recurring revenue in a labor-constrained industry. A $4.1 billion valuation on early commercial deployments prices in rapid scaling, and the next proof points will be utilization, safety records and how quickly contractors move from pilots to fleet-wide adoption. The deal also adds to a crowded week for physical AI and defense-adjacent rounds as growth investors chase hardware businesses with software-like margins.
