Bloomberg Completed Its Acquisition of Private-Markets Data Platform Canoe Intelligence

HedgeCo.Net — Bloomberg announced on October 1, 2026 that it completed its acquisition of Canoe Intelligence, an AI-powered platform that automates private-markets data collection, validation, and delivery. The close follows a definitive agreement announced on July 29, 2026, according to Unite.AI. Terms were not disclosed. Bloomberg CEO Vlad Kliatchko said Canoe’s data, technology, and expertise advance Bloomberg’s push to lead in private markets workflows alongside its public-markets franchise.

Canoe is described as a translation layer for unstructured private fund documents, delivering structured, permissioned data into systems such as Bloomberg PORT Enterprise. Joint clients can already use an existing integration in which validated private fund data flows into PORT Enterprise to support a “Total Portfolio View” across public and private assets. Bloomberg said the combined stack will deepen post-investment exposure and risk analysis, cash management, and holdings look-through, while also expanding pre-investment discovery and benchmarking. Consistent identifiers such as FIGI are part of the normalization approach described in the release.

Canoe CEO Jason Eiswerth, now part of Bloomberg, said the deal gives the platform scale to bring private markets closer to the portfolio-level intelligence investors expect in public markets. Bloomberg said Canoe clients will keep dedicated service with increased technology investment. Finextra and PR Newswire carried matching close language.

For LPs, OCIO platforms, and hedge fund ops teams, the acquisition is infrastructure consolidation rather than a fundraise. The diligence question is whether Bloomberg’s distribution and PORT Enterprise footprint turn Canoe’s permissioned data pipes into a default private-markets IBOR layer—or whether managers and administrators continue to resist concentrating sensitive fund data with a single market-data vendor.
