Spot Bitcoin ETFs Took In $21.1 Million on Friday as Ether Funds Extended Their Outflow Streak to Nine Days

HedgeCo.Net — U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded net inflows of about $21.1 million on Friday, October 9, according to flow data from Farside Investors and SoSoValue. The modest gain followed outflows of $244.1 million on Thursday.

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust did most of the work, taking in about $22.4 million on its own, more than the category’s net total. Fidelity’s FBTC posted net withdrawals of about $3.6 million, and most other products saw little or no change on the day.

The inflow did not change the direction of the week. Spot bitcoin ETFs finished the five trading days with cumulative net outflows of roughly $679 million, according to both trackers’ data, which makes Friday’s result look more like a pause than a reversal.

Ether funds remained under pressure. Spot ether ETFs shed about $56.1 million on Friday, their ninth consecutive session of net outflows, with BlackRock’s ETHA accounting for the bulk of the withdrawal. That left BlackRock as the leading buyer on the bitcoin side and the main source of selling on the ether side on the same day.

For allocators using ETF flows as a read on institutional sentiment, the split matters. Investors were not exiting crypto products wholesale, but they were favoring bitcoin over ether, and the concentration of Friday’s inflow in a single fund shows how thin the demand was heading into the weekend.
