HedgeCo.Net — U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds drew a net $23.2 million on Tuesday, October 20, according to Farside Investors data, a sharp slowdown from the $526.7 million that entered the funds a day earlier. It was the second straight day of net inflows after a run of redemptions earlier in October.
Flows were concentrated in two products. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, IBIT, added $29.9 million and Fidelity’s FBTC added $3.6 million, while Bitwise’s BITB recorded $10.3 million of outflows. Every other fund in the group, including Grayscale’s GBTC, reported no flow for the day.
Monday’s total had been driven almost entirely by IBIT, which took in $665.2 million on October 19, more than the group’s net figure, as FBTC lost $83.6 million and GBTC lost $54.9 million that day. Monday’s inflow alone exceeded the $228.4 million that left the funds over the previous five trading sessions, TokenPost noted, after a week from October 12 to 16 that included a $261.4 million outflow on October 14.
The cumulative picture remains heavily tilted toward BlackRock. Farside’s running totals show about $57.5 billion of net inflows across U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs since launch, with IBIT accounting for roughly $66.3 billion of cumulative inflows and GBTC about $28.0 billion of cumulative outflows, the largest of any single fund.
For allocators and crypto fund managers, Tuesday’s figure suggests Monday’s buying did not immediately carry into a sustained run of large creations. Daily ETF flows have become a closely watched gauge of institutional and advisory demand for bitcoin exposure, and the next few sessions will show whether October’s earlier outflows have run their course.
