New York (HedgeCo.net) -The Miami Finance Forum (MFF), a non-profit trade association of investment and finance professionals in South Florida, today announced the election of Carlos Deupi as the MFF’s new Chairman. Mr. Deupi, a corporate lawyer at the law firm of Hogan Lovells US LLP in Miami, will serve for a one-year term beginning in January 2011.
Michael Schmidt, the Forum’s immediate past Chairman (who continues as a Board Member of the Miami Finance Forum) stated, “Carlos has done a great job as Vice Chairman during the past couple of years. He was instrumental in implementing our corporate governance procedures. He recruited a high-level advisory board of members from industry, academia and private equity. He has also been very active in developing and promoting our CEO Power Breakfast Series that has put on events focused on Private Equity, Hedge Funds, Venture Capital and other financial topics. We’re really pleased to have Carlos Deupi step up to the role of Chairman of the MFF this coming year – the Forum’s 5th year of existence”.
Carlos Deupi added, “I am extremely excited about this new role at the MFF. Miami has evolved tremendously as a regional and international financial sector in the past decade. My goals are to continue the mission of the MFF unifying and increasing the visibility of the ever-expanding finance community in S. Florida through our networking and educational events. I’d also like to continue to expand our board of directors and advisory board to add top-notch executives from high profile financial firms. Indeed, 2011 is going to be a very exciting year.”
Nicholas Ferber from the recruiting firm of Sanford Barrows was named as in-coming Vice Chairman of the Forum. The MFF has members from over 150 organizations, representing a Who’s Who in private equity, banking, finance and investments in Miami.
